The Café Royal lays claim to being Edinburgh’s oldest Oyster Bar, opening in 1863 in a building designed by the esteemed Scottish architect Robert Paterson. The café offers a true fine dining experience, in a beautiful building with traditional 19th century Parisian furnishings. It’s a great place to spend an evening with friends or family. It is most well-known for its delicious seafood – including oysters, mussels and lobsters. However, their lamb and beef dishes are also well worth sampling. In addition, there is a very wide selection of malt whiskies and ales.
