Hidden amongst the hills and mountains, this 85 metre deep sea loch on the Cowal Peninsula is a fantastic place to get away from it all and spend some time with nature.
The loch provides a spectacular backdrop, with the stunning Arrochar Alps and Argyll Forest Park looming over the loch.
It takes around an hour to get to this serene place from Glasgow and proves very popular with walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and people interested in fishing.
Look out for Carrick Castle, which is an old tower house on the banks of Loch Goil, this castle was built in the 12th century and held by the Campbells.
There is a fantastic place on the loch called Loch Goil Cruisers where you can rent a boat for the day. They have a great selection of boats available so whether you want to do a spot of fishing or just enjoy the fresh air and diverse wildlife, we recommend it. There is also Boat Shed Café, where you can grab a bite to eat or a nice hot drink.
