The world-famous Burrell Collection is undoubtedly one of Glasgow’s must-see attractions and, to make it even more appealing, it’s located within the beautiful surroundings of Pollok Country Park, just three miles outside the city centre. The museum has undergone a recent and extensive refurbishment and is due to reopen in spring 2021, following a five-year closure – although this date is subject to change. Sir William Burrell’s impressive collection was amassed over a number of years, and was donated to the City of Glasgow Corporation by the shipping merchant and art collector in 1944. The Burrell Collection includes an array of works from Chinese antiques to medieval stained glass, tapestries and armour, Islamic ceramics and Gothic pieces such as the Temple Pyx.
