Hillhead, situated to the south of the River Kelvin, is a beautifully preserved area of Glasgow, providing an excellent timeline of the city’s development. Many of the original buildings on display throughout Hillhead were built long before the area officially became part of the city of Glasgow in 1891 – which came about in part due to the University of Glasgow being constructed in Hillhead some 20 or so years previously. Today, Hillhead is known as a trendy and fashionable area of Glasgow, with boutique stores, coffee shops, delis, hip bistros and buzzing bars lining its streets.
