Loch Shin is a long narrow loch measuring around 18 miles by 1 mile. In the summer months you can find watersports of all kinds on this loch and it’s also great for salmon and trout fishing. The town of Lairg is at the foot of the loch and is an ideal spot for visitors to stop for a few days to enjoy the area. Don’t miss the Falls of Shin nearby – this is a great day out for all the family. There are lots of wildlife to spot in the area including wildcats, otters, waterfowl, osprey, widgeon, sandpipers and pine martens. Also look out for the Wee Hoose on a tiny island on the loch.
