Wester Ross Road Trip

By Chris Houston

We drove from Kishorn northwards on the Wester Ross Coastal Trail towards Torridon. The weather was predictably unpredictable as usual on the West Coast; broken cloud, rain, hail, high winds and the occasional ray of sunlight. After driving the Bealach na Ba we parked up at the top of the Bealach and walked the length of the Meall Gorm ridge giving incredible views back down to the road in the base of the valley. Onwards to Torridon and a continuation of the same extreme weather. The Torridonian mountains looked especially good in the broken light and with their covering of burnt heather. It’s an incredible stretch of coastline and not to be missed if heading north on the West Coast.

Great article Chris, love the photos. I’m keen to head out to that area this year.
