Assynt is an area in North Western Scotland that offers a variety of scenery with its moorland, mountains, fresh water lochans, hidden river valleys, cliffs, beaches and sea stacks. There is plenty to do in this area including fishing, boat trips, kayaking, water sports, stalking, climbing, walking and golf. There are also gardens, galleries, museums, beaches, castles and caves. There are coastal walks and low level walks that would suit everyone and also two Munros for the more dedicated and experienced.
As for wildlife you just can’t miss the red deer, they are all over this area and a joy to see. As well as them there are hundreds of species of birds including black-throated divers, common greenshanks and nesting seabirds at Stoer Point and Faraid Head. If you head for Drumbeg Viewpoint or Culkein Stoer with your binoculars you may see dolphins, porpoises and whales.
