The Invergordon Mural Trail

In 2002, this small Highland town was in economic decline when the idea was mooted of creating an outdoor art gallery, a series of murals to celebrate its heritage and put it on the tourist map. A group of volunteers, Invergordon Off the Wall, coordinated the public art project and the trail, which features 11 vibrant murals celebrating everything from the natural history of the Cromarty Firth to the annual Highland Gathering was officially opened by Princess Anne in 2007.
