Black Rock Gorge

Dropping deep below the pathway, the distinctive red sandstone of Black Rock Gorge is through which the ‘River Glass’ passes through. Used as a filming location for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the gorge is also the site of a local myth. Legend has it a noblewoman was lured here by the Devil and her cries can still be heard from the top.

A dramatic and rather unexpected feature of the Evanton countryside, the Black Rock Gorge is a box canyon with a thin waterfall travelling down it. Only accessible via a walk through Evanton Wood and along with a pair of footbridges, the canyon is surprisingly deep.
