An uninhabited tidal island on Skye’s west coast, Oronsay sits in the centre of Loch Bracadale. Only around 1,000 metres long, the island is connected to Skye at low tide via a narrow causeway and takes its name from the Old Norse meaning ‘tidal island’. It’s also a popular hiking destination when the tide is low enough.
