Banff is a pleasant little town in Aberdeenshire that is well worth strolling around. There are many nice cafes to settle in and have a nice tea and cake, as well as attractions such as the golf course and museum. However, a trip here is not complete without a trip to its long splendid sandy beach. Lying at the mouth of Deveron river, it is regularly used by dog walkers and families on a day out, as well as an occasional surfer and body boarder.
In fact, this is one of the best locations for surfing in the country. There is a car park for convenience, and a caravan site and play park a short walk away. The caravan park is open from March to October and has impressive views of the sea. If caravanning is not your thing, there are a variety of accommodation options including hotels and cottages as well as bed and breakfast.
You can follow the coastal path all the way from Banff to Whitehills. A variety of wildlife can be spotted from here, including many interesting bird species as well as dolphins and porpoises! All in all it’s a wonderful spot for a day out with the family!
