NextFirst established in 1810, the Jura Distillery was brought back to life in the 1960s and is now an integral piece of the Jura community. Producing a distinctive whisky, the distillery is a major employer of residents on the island covering everything from production to distribution. Visitors to Jura can tour the distillery, chat with the current owners and employees who make the whisky and, of course, sample some of the wares themselves. The distillery, which distributes its famous blends across the world, produces a famous single malt scotch whisky that was the subject of numerous TV adverts in 2021, which invited people not just to try the whisky – but to come and visit the beautiful island where it’s produced.
