Crovie

Crovie is a tiny village tucked away on a little bay between Fraserburgh and Banff. It used to be a fishing village until 1953 when a storm washed away some of it and made it impossible for the fishermen to carry on working from there. Most of them moved slightly along the coast to the larger village of Gardenstown. The village consists of a line of houses with only a small path in front of them and no room for any vehicles. Behind the houses is a steep cliff and at the top of the cliff is a car park where you can stop and look below at this enchanting little out of the way village. The houses are used as self-catering holiday lets now so a great place to find if you really want to get away from it all. If you are in the area, look out for the red cliffs at Troup Head where you’ll find thousands of nesting birds at the RSPB reserve and also the lovely little sandy cove of Cullykhan Bay nearby.
