Aberdeen’s Windows to the Sea sculpture, overlooking the North Sea on the Esplanade, is a collection of three individual light grey, granite ‘windows’ designed by Mexican Lourdes Cue. The sculptor, who is now based in Minneapolis, created the windows as part of Aberdeen International Youth Festival’s Mobil Young Sculptors competition. They were then donated to the City of Aberdeen in 1986 by Mobil North Sea Ltd. The sculpture is among the main attractions along Aberdeen’s scenic parkrun route, which starts and finished by Donmouth Local Nature Reserve, just north of the Windows to the Sea.
