NextAt once alluring and amusing, the Pineapple is a unique fixture atop a grand country house. Built in the 1780s by the Earl of Dunmore, a pineapple sculpted in stone sits above the front door – believed to show off the Earl’s great wealth (pineapples were very rare at the time). The Pineapple – and the adjoining house and grounds – are now cared for by the National Trust for Scotland.
