The Hidden Scotland Shop

We are open! We have opened the doors to our retail space and planning station, set in the charming location Milton of Crathes, Banchory.
We invite you to come and visit our space, where you can make use of the planning station, that helps and inspires you with your ongoing or future travels. We hope that you will also enjoy a journey of discovery, through browsing the hand-selected products all created by Scottish makers within the shop. Our featured makers are from all over Scotland, giving you a sense of the different regions showcased here together.
The building that we occupy was once a sawmill, dating back to the 17th century and today it maintains its authentic connections to the past with the water wheel still in place.
Within the complex there is a brasserie, art gallery, handcrafted barrel furniture, pop up shops and fly fishing school & shop. Together we share the idyllyc setting on the banks of the River Dee, that neighbours the enchanting Crathes Castle. A 16th-century castle, with its beautiful walled garden and expansive grounds.
The Royal Deeside Railway has also very recently returned a limited service that runs every Sunday. Taking you on a mile long journey, steam hauled by the famous Bon-Accord locomotive. All services leave from and return to the Milton of Crathes station, with a travel time of 20 – 30 minutes, a distance of about 1 mile each way.
