Showcasing a fascinating 200 years of the Gordon Highlanders – originally the 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot – army regiment, the museum is a must visit for anyone interested in military history. It can be found towards the west of Aberdeen city centre and is set in a 19th century house which was formerly the residence of artist Sir George Reid, but is now owned by trustees of the regiment. Housed within the museum is a huge collection of memorabilia, including historical artefacts, regimental silverware, weaponry and a mock-up of the Regimental Officers’ Mess, as well as works by Sir George Reid. In 2019, a replica of a World War I trench was opened and won a tourism award later that year.
