NextStanding atop hills a full kilometre apart, the Brown and White Catherthuns give us fascinating insights into Neolithic construction. Much of what we know of the forts emanates from excavations carried out during the 1990s, yet even that is fragmentary. The forts were constructed sometime between 700BC and 200BC, although were dismantled and rebuilt multiple times. We can say with some confidence that the fort built on the White Catherthun is both the latest and largest of the constructs, yet the closeness of the two hills continue to spark debate to this day.
