Strathspey Steam Railway

Since 1978, the Strathspey Railway project has been trying to bring steam travel back to the Highlands. Their steam train currently operates on a ten-mile section of railway that runs from Aviemore to Broomhill. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area, permitting visitors to step back in time and imagine themselves in the Age of Steam.

Here’s an idea of a great day out from one of the locals. Walk the Strathspey Way from Boat of Garten to Aviemore, have lunch in one of the many restaurants or bars in town and catch the Strathspey Railway back.
