Located in the Old Aberdeen area of the city, South Donmouth Beach is a true beauty spot. Meeting the North Sea at the southern mouth of the River Don, the beach backs onto Donmouth Local Nature Reserve, with the Windows to the Sea sculpture, Aberdeen Esplanade and the historic wonder of Old Aberdeen all on the doorstep. At South Donmouth Beach, it’s not unusual to spot local residents, including seals, seabirds, waders and terns on this stunning bit of unspoilt natural coastline. In the summer months, rangers organise a host of events, from minibeast hunts to seashore searches. The area was designated a Nature Reserve in 1992.
