Scolty Hill Walk

No matter where in the Banchory area you are, you can almost always see Scolty Tower reaching up into the sky. Built to commemorate the Napoleonic Wars general William Burnett, the tower has been damaged and diligently restored several times since its conception.

To reach the tower, visitors must first climb the 300m high Scolty Hill. Although the walk is not particularly long, it is quite strenuous over that short period, so ensure you come prepared. Once you have reached the summit, it is a much quicker walk up the spiral staircase within Scolty Tower. The view from the top is staggering in its scope and beauty. On clearer days, it is even possible to see all the way to Aberdeen and the sea beyond.
