Built for Mary of Gueldres, Ravenscraig Castle was once a popular spot for visiting Kings and Queens from the 15th century. Fortified to protect it against attack, the castle is now managed by Historic Environment Scotland and the inspiration for Sir Walter Scott’s poem ‘Lay of the Last Minstrel’.
