Rackwick Bay has a special kind of beauty with its sparkling sands, boulders, red sandstone cliffs, heather filled hills and all looking onto the Pentland Firth. It’s part of Hoy in Orkney and that whole area is an RSPB reserve, a site of special scientific interest, a special protection area, a special area for conservation and a national scenic area so look out for some interesting birds and wildflowers. Rackwick is also the starting point for your walk to see the Old Man of Hoy and has a really interesting traditional croft house depicting life in the 19th century.
