While visiting Inverness, take a day to explore the nearby town of Nairn, and its lovely beach, walks, and golf course. It only takes fifteen minutes in the train from Inverness.
Nairn is an ideal place for a family holiday. To start with it has its own micro-climate making it sunnier and drier than the surrounding areas.
This is a seaside town on the Moray Firth with pleasure boats and sand dunes. Dolphins can often be spotted from the shore or from one of the special boat trips out to see them closer up. Nairn also offers river walks, a promenade and trails through the woods all of which allow opportunities to see great views, birds, wildlife and fauna.
There is no shortage of good restaurants and holiday accommodation to choose from. Nairn also has a putting green, leisure park, Nature Reserve, museum, swimming pool and cinema so lots of things to do with the family. There are also two championship golf courses that are a must for the keen golfer. If you are looking for a good base for the family to explore the Highlands then Nairn is an ideal choice.
