A small statue that watches over part of the Royal Mile, Morocco’s Land Effigy is found a few stories up on Castle Esplanade. Legend has it, the statue was an effigy to the emperor of Morocco in the 17th century – who many believe was a Scottish convict who had escaped execution by travelling to North Africa.
