Formerly known as New Aberdeen, Marischal Square is a new development, designed to transform the city centre. Located between Broad Street, Upperkirkgate and Flourmill Lane, on the site of the demolished former headquarters of Aberdeen City Council, the square is now home to chic, modern offices, as well as restaurants, coffee shops, a Residence Inn by Marriott hotel, gardens and art installations. The redevelopment was completed in 2017. Alongside these modern developments, Marischal Square is also home to Provost Skene’s house, a building which has stood since 1545. The rooms have been furnished in 17th, 18th and early 19th century styles, making it a popular tourist spot.
