There are ancient cairns, cists, remains and a number of sites of standing stones throughout Mull dating back as far as the Bronze Age. Standing Stones can be found at Lochbuie Stone Circle, Kilmore, Maol Mor, Quinish and Dervaig Cemetery. Lochbuie Stone Circle has a beautiful and peaceful setting next to Loch Buie with Ben Buie in the background.
This is a ring of granite stones at various heights set in a 12 metre diameter circle. There would have been 9 of them at one time. There are also a number of other standing stones out-with the circle. It’s impressive to see and sets the mind wandering to times gone by and imagining what life would have been like for the people of that time.
