Lady Stairs Close is one of the most famous closes in Edinburgh. It is home to the 17th century townhouse ‘Lady Stairs House’, which is renowned for its picturesque beauty. The house is close to four hundred years old and has many a story to tell. It was common for wealthy families at that time to live in closes, as they did not want to live in the busy main streets.
