Jura Community Shop

The island’s singular shop and post office, this shop is run and operated by members of the local community. Found in the central village of Craighouse, the shop became fully independent and sustainable in 2017, with all of its profits going back into the shop and its future development. Here, you’ll find fresh food, household goods and newspapers – but it’s often the place for people to meet up and chat about the island’s activities. Because of the remoteness of the island, shops can be scarce – but the community feel of this place makes it a great place to visit not just to pick up some essentials, but to meet some of the locals and get to know the real heart of Jura.
