Isle of Bute

The island of Bute measures about 15 miles by 4 miles and offers a varied landscape, lots to do and is easy to get to from Glasgow.

There are regular trains to Wemyss Bay from Glasgow and the ferry from there only takes about 35 minutes for the crossing. On arrival in Rothesay you are greeted with a promenade of palm trees and flowers. The island offers a variety of attractions including Rothesay Castle, Mount Stuart House & Gardens, Ardencraig Gardens, Bute Museum and even Rothesay’s famous Victorian Public Toilets.

There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and bistros as well as lots of accommodation providers. For wildlife lovers look out for porpoises on the crossing and seals at Scalpsie Bay.
