On the Farr Estate, south of Inverness, this converted Victorian chapel and tenants hall is now a sumptuous self-catering property with eight ensuite bedrooms, an Aga in the kitchen and ancestral portraits on the dining room walls. The library in the old chapel has a stained glass circular window and wide selection of books to browse, some dating back to the 1700s, while the elegant sitting room has a soaring ceiling and roaring open fire. You can take a rowing boat out on Loch Farr from the boathouse or fish the loch, there are moorland hikes on the doorstep or book at 4×4 tour. The Farr Estate has a handful of self-catering properties including the old gardener’s cottage (sleeps 6) and Loch Nest, a one-bedroom apartment attached to Farr House.
