The Craig of Affrusk is a gently rising hill surrounded by several converging woods to the south of Banchory. The hill overlooks the scenic River Dee, with a fantastic view of the famous Falls of Feugh – the river’s cascades that are home to many leaping salmon. To the east, climbers can also spot the newly restored Tilquhillie Castle.
You can complete the walk itself in around two hours without posing too much of a challenge. A clear path guides walkers through the steady incline before reaching a long, mossy wall nearer to the summit. Also keeping you company on this walk are the many species of local wildlife such as deer, which are often spotted roaming the woods during the quieter months.
