Take in the panoramic views across Glasgow and nearby mountain ranges, hop on your bike and tackle a number of tricky mountain bike trails (used in the 2014 Commonwealth Games), or simply settle in for an afternoon picnic at the breath-takingly beautiful Cathkin Braes Country Park. Situated eight kilometres south-east of Glasgow city centre, the area of outstanding natural beauty is rich in history, views and wildlife, with a diverse range of habitats on offer, including ancient woodland, marsh, bracken, grassland and dwarf shrub heath. The best views in the park can be enjoyed from the top of Queen Mary’s Seat which, at 300m above sea level, provides spectacular views to both the south and the north.
