Big Sky Lodges is our collection of six unique Scandinavian log houses from Finland. They are located on our family croft near the edge of the beautiful Black Isle. Each of our lodges are fully self-catering and sleep up to six guests. They have everything our guests might need for a Highland break including: private parking, spacious gardens with outdoor seating, barbecues, bird feeding stations and beautiful views over our croft to the hills beyond. The lodges are positioned so that each takes advantage of the natural light throughout the day and are screened with natural woodland to allow our guests to holiday in complete peace and seclusion.
We aim to provide affordable and stylish holiday accommodation with a touch of luxury. Our lodges are designed to suit a variety of groups including families seeking a safe and private location, and couples looking for a secluded and romantic break in the Highlands. Our log cabins are genuine Scandinavian design and are made from polar pine grown in sustainable forests in Lapland, which makes them incredibly strong, breathable and eco-friendly. They are super comfortable and decorated with quirky and colourful furnishings from Scottish designers, with wood burning stoves, crisp cotton bedding, comfy leather sofas and cosy blankets to enjoy an evening under the stars on the veranda. The croft has been in our family for 25 years and we have always endeavoured to use traditional methods to maintain it. Much of the woodland was planted by my family and the traditional drystone dykes have remained for hundreds of years. Over the years we have grazed the land with sheep, horses, and cattle, raised chickens and currently we have a little heard of Highland cows and Icelandic and Shetland ponies.
Based only ten miles from Inverness we are in the perfect location for guests to explore the whole of the Highlands and to enjoy the spectacular local Scottish countryside. Our guests can explore the Big Sky croft and experience lovely walks in the surrounding woodland. All manner of wildlife can be seen without leaving the deck of the lodges. Red Kites can regularly be seen flying overhead, and roe deer, red squirrels, pine martins, foxes and many species of wild birds can be spotted around the croft and local woodlands. We also have our three friendly Highland cows in the field right in front of the lodges, plus Icelandic and Shetland ponies grazing in the fields elsewhere on the croft
