This may be Scotland’s smallest munro but it makes up for it with it’s toughness.
It’s steep, rocky and part of the beautiful Arrochar Alps, which is a group of peaks located in The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Standing at 3196 feet it only just makes it to munro status, which is a mountain over 3000 feet.
The route starts at Inveruglas Pier, where you find a car park and a private road which leads you up to Ben Vane.
For some well earned refreshments after this challenging hike, check out the Drovers Inn in Inverarnan.
The nearest village to Ben Vane is Arrochar, which is around 4 miles away at the head of Loch Long and is seen as one of the main gateways to the Argyll Forest Park.
