Aurora Bay

Aurora Bay’s atmosphere is sublime. On still nights the moon sometimes rises over Flodigarry Island opposite the house and is reflected in the dark waters. There is the Milky Way clearly visible on moonless nights and Auroras if you are lucky. Look for the seals on the foreshore beneath the house on sunny mornings and sit outside with a coffee identifying passing shipping. Alternatively on stormy Hebridean nights, experience the real heart of the Highlands experience, tucked up in bed or in front of the open fire listening to the wind. The location is great for Walking, Cycling, composers, artists, astronomers and wildlife enthusiast, as well as those who just love to watch the sea and sky.

Flodigarry House Hotel is just a 15 minute walk away or 5 minute drive. Here you can have a drink and food in the bar or experience their acclaimed restaurant,

Aurora Bay is very close to where Flora MacDonald (of Bonnie Prince Charlie fame) lived. Staffin township is 10 minutes away by car where there is a local store and more eating choices. Portree is 40minutes away by car, with its popular restaurants and bars. On the way why not stop off at the “Old Man of Storr” or the waterfall to the sea at “Kilt Rock” There is also the new “Skye Blue Gallery” where you can get a coffee and see local artworks.

The “Museum of Island Life” is also a great attraction which is 10-15 minutes away by car, a visit to which will really make you appreciate the hardiness of the Highlanders and the comfort of Aurora Bay!!
