DUNSTANE HOUSES

A LITTLE PIECE OF ORKNEY

The Dunstane Houses are made up of two buildings, Dunstane House and Hampton House, which are situated directly across the road from one another in Haymarket.  These historic buildings form two halves of a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel – a relaxing, contemporary sanctuary that blends the story of Scotland’s Capital City with the Orcadian roots of its present day owners – a stylish and welcoming city retreat with an authentic Scottish soul.

Across the two buildings there are 35 bedrooms, 16 of which (in Dunstane House) have recently undergone a million pound refurbishment. The building still retains some of its original features and these merge perfectly with the brand new make over. Each of the stylish rooms  comes with delightful quirks of its own, but all present a fresh and timeless contemporary style.

The Dunstane Houses have been around since the middle of the nineteenth century and have witnessed the evolution of modern-day Edinburgh. They have seen many occupants over the years including merchants, musicians, doctors and whisky distillers.

THE WELCOME

A warm welcome awaits you on arrival. The reception makes you feel that you’ve walked into someone’s luxurious living room.  The staff are courteous and friendly making you feel completely welcome and in good hands.  The bottle of fine malt displayed on the reception table also adds to the warmth of the welcome especially on a cold Scottish day.

THE DUNSTANE SUITE

Greeted with a king sized bed dressed with supersize Harris tweed cushions to sink into after a long day of exploring, you will then quickly be distracted by the large roll-top copper bath which sits in the bay window. Enjoy a long soak in the tub with a glass of something nice from the mini-bar whilst taking in the views of the Pentland Hills and Edinburgh’s cityscape (Don’t forget to make use of the selection of aromatic Noble Isle bath products too!).
